Automatic Barrel Plating Line

Automatic barrel plating is an efficient technique where the workpieces, typically small components, are loaded into a drum for the plating process. This method is especially suited for high-volume production, where each barrel can hold a substantial number of parts. The typical plating thickness achieved is below 10 micrometers.

PIONEER takes pride in exporting machinery globally across various industries, prioritizing quality above all. Our mission is to offer customers high value-added products that cater to their needs. Together, we can contribute to a more successful future.

Barrel plating functions as a common approach in electroplating production. In this process, parts are placed within a hexagonal drum, which acts as a material-holding device. The parts' weight assists in connecting them to the cathode, allowing for metal electrodeposition as the drum rotates.

What sets barrel plating apart from rack plating is its use of a rotating drum. The drum, typically hexagonal and horizontally oriented, has one open side for the insertion of small parts. Once loaded, the drum is closed to secure the parts during plating. The drum's wall features small holes that facilitate the conduction of current between the parts and the anode, as well as the circulation of the plating solution and the release of waste gases.

The cathode is connected through central shaft holes, using copper wires or rods fixed to the drum's wall panels. The gravitational pull naturally aligns the parts with the cathode conductive device, maximizing efficiency. Various factors—like drum structure, size, rotation speed, and hole opening rate—play a crucial role in determining the production efficiency and plating quality. Thus, the roller design is essential to barrel plating technology.

Compared to traditional rack plating, barrel plating offers numerous advantages, including labor savings, increased productivity, reduced maintenance costs, a smaller footprint, and consistent plating quality.
