Does anyone know what all the different colours represent on those poly strip discs please? Struggling to find information on them. It's the roloc ones for a pistol grinder.
Thanks

If any other manufactur uses purple or orange it doesn't mean a thing, there is no universal standard.

Deviating. What size discs & what pistol grinder do you have? Simple curiosity.

I've never used them are they any good, how do they compare to a flap disk ?Excellent for stripping paint as they tend to leave the underlying steel largely untouched. Downside, I always seem to (painfully) go through my gloves to skin all too easily.

I was amazed , they pulled off the under seal on my car like it was nothing.
And as awamason said they only polish the metal virtually zero material removal.
If you catch an edge of sheet metle you can wear them overly quickly and if you press to hard / too long on one spot you can melt them.

So in use, are they pretty much along the lines of a small, more readily controllable sanding/grinding tool? Comfortable to use?
Reason I'm asking is that I recently noted Bosch have brought out a 12V version of that type of tool, but can't decide whether it may be a useful addition to my tool collection, or whether it's just a gimmicky type thing I'll never need/use. This is the one:
GWG 12V-50 S Rotary Grinder | Bosch Professional
GWG 12V-50 S 12V system | Powerful, high-performance brushless motor and high torque enable high productivity, Extremely lightweight and compact design with small grip size for fatigue-free working, Variable-speed trigger switch and different speed modes enable perfect control for various tasks...Domdom

So in use, are they pretty much along the lines of a small, more readily controllable sanding/grinding tool? Comfortable to use?Honestly, I use it way more than I expected to. Restoring this Sierra has meant many inaccessible places for a 4+1/2” electric grinder. I’ve got through at least a dozen boxes of 40 grit discs just dressing back welds. It’s slower progress than an electric grinder but it does a much more tidy job. And the disc change on the Roloc system is a breeze, like 10 seconds to change the disc.

Then there’s the sheer variety of discs available in Roloc. Look on the bay and you’ll see what I mean.
Gimmick? Hell no. Godsend is more the word.

I'd only just talked myself out of it too. That resolve's gone right down the crapper now.

The trick is to keep cutting back the backing until you use the entire abrasive part because they are 10 quid a pop.
