Numerous factors can influence the costs, including layout, size, testing pressure, and the processes for filling, emptying, and drying. Expenses could range anywhere from $10K to $100K.
Keep in mind that pneumatic testing of LPG tanks comes with its own risk considerations. Are you confident in proceeding this way?
More detailed inquiries yield better responses. Additionally, politeness in responding to feedback is essential.

Water quality and the subsequent drying process are both crucial elements.
Pneumatic testing can be acceptable for smaller, isolated systems.
However, reference the links provided by MJC; the risks escalate quickly and are banned in numerous scenarios.

Pressure Testing Equipment: Performance Overview - PWENT
Our product line includes various types of pressure testing machinery. To mitigate any confusion and to save you money, we are here to assist in selecting the optimal pressure testing equipment tailored for your industrial high-pressure cylinders and fire extinguishers. It’s essential that our machines are apt for hydrostatic testing in the following applications:
With competitive pricing and prompt delivery, SUNCENTER genuinely aspires to be your supplier and partner.
- fire extinguisher hydrostatic testing
- low pressure gas cylinder inspection
- high pressure gas cylinder testing
Additionally, you can find the procedures for hydrotesting tanks in this article.
Choosing the Right Pressure Testing Machine for Your Needs
Typically, we test the cylinders at one and a half times their normal working pressure. For instance, a cylinder rated for 200 bar is tested to withstand 300 bar. The testing is conducted using water, which is minimally compressible. Therefore, if a tank fails under pressure, there is no explosion risk; worst case, you may only experience some water spillage. Our pressure testing machines facilitate varying levels of automation in the testing processes, with a comprehensive data table available to guide your selection, including pressure specifications, gas cylinder dimensions, and expected hourly testing capacities.
Testing of Powder Fire Extinguishers
Powder fire extinguishers are typically pressured to between 10 to 15 bar, hence our testing is performed below 50 bar. We primarily provide manual solutions in this area, capable of on-site operations. Our mobile options are:
- HT35
- N7/1FH-E
- N7/1FH-E AA (includes a blower for drying the fire hose)
CO2 Fire Extinguisher Pressure Testing
CO2 cylinders operate at higher pressures than powder extinguishers. The gas phase above the liquid state maintains a constant pressure (~67.5 bar) with minimal variance due to changes in temperature. Regular test pressures for CO2 cylinders used in fire extinguishing systems are around 250 bar or sometimes 212 bar.
Low Pressure and High-Pressure Industrial Cylinders
We offer the FIT50 for low-pressure industrial gas cylinder testing, specifically optimized for cylinders with welded cages. A unique attachment allows for an entirely automated process for filling, testing, and emptying the cylinders. For those who primarily handle high-pressure cylinders with only a few low-pressure ones, the standard FIT50 can still be used, but expect additional labor hours due to the welded cage structure and larger diameter.
FIT SERIES: Innovative Pressure Testing Machines
We manufacture the FIT series testing benches in four main variants, each with several options, which include:
Versions of the FIT Pressure Testing Machine
- FIT50: A semi-automatic test bench capable of testing 6 cylinders per cycle.
- FIT50-DUO: A semi-automatic test bench allowing for testing of 6+6 cylinders per cycle.
- FIT-6-EVO: An automatic test bench capable of testing 6 cylinders per cycle.
- FIT-6 DUO-EVO: An automatic test bench that can test 6+6 cylinders per cycle.
Operational Principles for Hydrotest Procedures
FIT50
This unit enables the filling, testing, and draining of cylinders filled with water. We can recuperate or dispose of the used water according to the customer's specified testing protocol. The operator is required to manually attach the filling, testing, and draining heads before each stage.
For more information, please visit field hydrostatic hose pressure testing.
- TIMING: Loading the bench with 6 cylinders of 50 liters, testing them at 300 bar, draining, and unloading takes approximately 12-15 minutes. This allows for testing around 24 cylinders per hour.
- DRYING: After testing, the cylinders require drying. Recommended drying equipment includes the CIL or DRY-VAP models.
FIT50-DUO
FIT50-DUO operates on the same principles as FIT50. However, it features two cylinder inverters, enabling operation to alternate between inverter 1 and inverter 2. Utilizing two inverters connected to a single pressure testing machine enhances productivity and integrates the drying system into the bench (details on the drying process follow).
- TIMING: FIT50-DUO can test up to 42 cylinders per hour for 50 liters with the use of 2 operators.
- DRYING: After testing, necessary drying equipment includes the CIL or DRY-VAP models.
FIT-6-EVO
This equipment allows for the filling, testing, and emptying of cylinders. The operator manually fits the filling and emptying heads on the cylinders, with design features enabling fast coupling, thus saving labor time.
- TIMING: Loading, testing, draining, and unloading 6 cylinders of 50 liters takes approximately 10 minutes, therefore testing over 30 cylinders per hour on the FIT-6-EVO is achievable.
- DRYING: After testing, cylinders also require drying with suggested drying equipment being CIL or DRY-VAP models.
FIT-6DUO-EVO
Maintaining the same operational principles as FIT-6-EVO, the FIT-6DUO-EVO is equipped with two testing inverters, facilitating alternating operations on inverter 1 and inverter 2. This dual-inverter setup increases productivity and allows for integrated drying systems on the testing bench.
- TIMING: FIT-6DUO-EVO allows for the testing of over 54 cylinders per hour of 50 liters with 2 operators.
- DRYING: Drying post-testing is essential. The recommended drying equipment includes CIL or DRY-VAP models for optimal performance.
DRYING SYSTEMS for FIT
The available drying systems are CIL6/10 or DRY-VAP.
CIL6/10
The operational concept involves blowing hot air into the cylinders, with two usage modes for the CIL drying machine: placed beside the pressure testing ramp or integrated into the FIT models. When positioned next to the testing bench, operators must manually transfer cylinders post-testing. If integrated, this process is automated. Drying 6 cylinders of 50 liters takes approximately 18 minutes. Integration impacts productivity; with 2 CIL units installed, full productivity can be maintained.
DRY-VAP
The DRY-VAP system functions by first introducing hot steam, followed by dry air into the cylinders. This system can only be integrated with the testing bench. The drying process positions the cylinders upside down immediately after draining, taking about 9 minutes for 6 cylinders of 50 liters. Operators with FIT-6DUO-EVO paired with DRY-VAP can test and dry up to 30 cylinders per hour, achieving impressive drying performance with resulting moisture residual reduced to approximately 40 PPM at 50 bar Nitrogen.
Specialized Equipment for Water Jacket Pressure Testing
For measuring shape distortion in gas cylinders during or post-testing, we recommend our WINJ72 water jacket pressure testing machine, capable of accommodating 1 water jacket at a time. Typically, inspecting a single cylinder takes about an hour, and many clients opt to purchase two units for simultaneous preparation of the next cylinder during the current testing cycle.
