Let’s think about plastics. Post-consumer plastics basically means that discarded plastic items are collected, cleaned and repurposed at processing facilities that have the ability to turn the used plastic into new, recycled plastics.
By using post-consumer plastics to create new products, the amount of plastic waste is reduced and the production process is also more beneficial to the environment because it is not dependent on the use of fossil fuels as raw materials.

These materials are likely to fulfill the legal criteria of being a by-product.” That is why the European Commission guidance material mentions that the “pre-consumer materials” “refers to a waste discarded from the production process”.

Plastic milk jugs: Following the collection of plastic milk jugs made from high-density polyethylene (HDPE), they are separated and processed through curbside recycling.
