Regards J. you sure its the crankshaft oil seal & not the easy to replace/common to leak(when hardened) half moon seal on the back of the rocker cover?
I say this because the oil runs down the back of the engine, around the bellhousing and onto the floor!
Just replaced mine AGAIN, milners rockerbox gasket and half moon seal was as hard as nails and leakin after less than 18months
I have fitted genuine Hyundai seals along with timing belt tensioner, camshaft oil seal, rockerbox gasket & half moon rubber and the 2 little rockerbox bolt seals I am well impressed at the quality of the Hyundai rubber gaskets. They have 2 moulded ridges that squash to form a perfect seal, unlike some other seals. and you dont need a second mortgage to buy them either.
Thanks Ade, i,ll check it out when me mates gaffer goes away and i can get it on his ramp, these hyundai seals... what vehicle they off, part no?
Only working on what local garage have said after putting it on their ramp but got kinda put off when they quoted me £500 + vat to put it right.
Do the torque converters wear out as they said it would be a good idea to do this at the same time.
